Transnational workshop shares best practices at Strasbourg

The 7 european communities of practice of the “Urbagri4Women” project got together in Strasbourg, from 12 to 14 September, to participate in a transnational workshop on good practices on the inclusion of migrant women and innovative urban agriculture initiatives.

The morning of the first day of the workshop included a visit to Foyer Notre Dame, a NGO supporting and accommodating people seeking protection and help with the aim to foster their social and professional inclusion in the society, and CIMADE, a NGO receiving and advising with administrative and legal support thens of thousands of migrants, refugees and asylum seekers in its reception centres.

In the afternoon, the entire group went to visit the garden of Montagne Verte, a NGO organizing agriculture activities for the social inclusion of people in difficulties, and the AMSED garden where it was possible to meet some immigrant women involved in the project.

On the 13 of September, the group went to visit a roma camp where it was possible to participate in a agriculture workshop and learn more about the activities that have been implemented for social and professional inclusion of roma women, and a socio-cultural center of Neuhof, a identified space where AMSED is organizing activities for social inclusion of migrant women, with the city-hall of Strasbourg and other NGO’s and stakeholders.

In the last day of workshop took place a cross-fertilization and dialogue about all the best practices and issues discovered during the study visit and seminar.

The “Urbagri4Women” project involves 7 organizations from 7 European Union countries, namely AIDGLOBAL, of Portugal, AMSED, of France, CARDET, of Cyprus, GYROS, of England, IED, of Greece, Südwind, of Austria, and TAMAT, of Italy, leading partner of the initiative. It is co-funded by the Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund of the European Union.
